| Save the Date! 5th Annual High Tech Maui Holiday Job Fair
October 3, 2006
The 5th Annual High Tech Maui Holiday Job Fair will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Ke Alahele - The MEDB Center in the Maui Research & Technology Center.
Held each December since 2002, the fair offers employers the unique opportunity to provide company information and recruit kama'ainas and Hawaii-born students who come home for the holidays.
In recent years, Maui Economic Development Board’s Women in Technology Project (WIT) has partnered with Jon Sakurai-Horita of Kama'aina Careers and the Maui County Workforce Investment Board to host the event.
2005 participants included Akimeka, Boeing, County of Maui, Hawaiian Telcom, Lockheed Martin Orincon, Maui High Performance Computing Center, Northrop Grumman, Oceanit, Pacific Disaster Center, Science Application International Corporation, Trex Enterprises, Textron Systems, Monsanto, Clearwire, Maui Memorial Hospital, Henkels and McCoy, Center for Adaptive Optics, Maui Community College and UH Center.
By registering ahead of time at www.hightechmaui.com or www.womenintech.com, job seekers can conveniently upload their resume and other required information for employer prescreening. Applicants may also bring a copy of their resume on event day to be eligible for a prize drawing.
Companies are specifically seeking individuals with educational or work experience for positions such as computer operators, software developers, junior/senior level scientists, Web developers, network technicians and engineers and database administrators.
Although the primary goal is to connect Maui technology employers with kama'ainas who live on another island or reside out of state, all qualified job seekers have the opportunity to meet and impress employers.
According to WIT Project Manager Jenilynne Gaskin, the Holiday Job Fair will definitely be promoted throughout the University of Hawaii system including Maui Community College, as well as on the mainland through Kama‘aina Career’s large Hawaii network.
In 2005, the fair attracted nearly 200 job seekers, with 50% pre-registering online. Next year’s fair is scheduled for December 27, 2006.
