The Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation Awards, now in their seventh year, allow judges to consider novel technologies from around the world in several categories such as communications, consumer electronics, environment, energy and others. For a technology to be considered, judges must determine whether the technology truly represents a breakthrough from conventional methods, rather than just an incremental improvement. Peletex will be honored at an awards ceremony and dinner on October 24 in Redwood City, California. Peletex, Inc. was selected from more than 800 entries as runner-up in the Environment category. Only about 4% of the applicants were selected for awards.
Peletex patented and is developing the Aqueous Air Filtration (AFA) Filter™, which is recognized as the first fundamental breakthrough in air filtration technology in over 50 years. The Peletex technology mimics nature by employing the same process that creates a raindrop. The AFA Filter captures airborne contaminants such as particles, liquids and gasses. The effectiveness of this innovative technology has been researched, tested and documented with funding from Hawaii Technology Development Venture (HTDV) in collaboration with Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico.
Jeff Reiss, CEO of Peletex, will address the next meeting of Maui TechOhana on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 to be held at the Dunes at Maui Lani in Kahului. TechOhana Reservations. Reiss’ talk will explore the development of Peletex and the unique AFA filtration system that is creating international interest.
Peletex was selected and recently presented a paper at the Sixth Annual International Conference on Air Quality in Arlington, VA September 24-27 entitled, “The AFA Filter System Layout and Results of Modeling for CO2 and Particulate Matter Removal.” Visit the conference website.
Peletex, Inc. originally introduced the concept for the Aqueous Air Filtration (AFA) Filter™ by marketing their invention, the Vac-U-Sand for the construction industry. This portable device captures the dust from drywall installations, creating safer conditions for workers and eliminating damage to equipment caused by the drywall dust.
Peletex is currently pursing funding from the Government for R&D and opportunities to partner with market leading companies who recognize the strategic advantage that Peletex technology can bring to their plans for market expansion in the future. Additionally, partnerships with emerging new industries are providing Peletex with opportunities to develop new technologies such as green-fuel production plants. The potential to assist existing technologies to perform better and reduce their CO2 footprints are being explored by consultants and industries world-wide.
