Hawaii’s energy sector is transforming from oil to clean energy, creating a growing market opportunity. The mission of Hawaii Renewable Energy Development Venture (HREDV) is to help Hawaii businesses commercialize their renewable energy and efficiency innovations to solve Hawaii’s energy challenges – and provide national and international solutions.
The new website has a wide range of resources, such as policy and technology information, funding resources for businesses, ARRA and other federal funding guidance, the HREDV roadmap, and information on how to apply for HREDV funds.
The Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative has set the stage for transforming Hawaii’s economy to one based on clean energy. This initiative requires billions of dollars of private investment, representing an enormous market opportunity. What technologies and businesses will step in to serve this market? The Hawaii Renewable Energy Development Venture (HREDV), a project of PICHTR that is funded by U.S. Department of Energy, was created in 2008 to help ensure that as Hawaii’s clean energy future takes shape, businesses are ready to step in with solutions.
